On Friday morning a telemarketer called while Ethan was having a snack in the kitchen. I asked the telemarketer to please take me off his list, said thanks and hung up.

Ethan started in with the “whys.” Why did you ask them to take you off their list mommy? What list? Why are you on their list? Why did you want to be off it?

So I explained it was a telemarketer and I just didn’t want him to call back. (I don’t know why that explanation sufficed and there weren’t corresponding questions about what a telemarketer is.)

Later that day I lay down with Jared to put him down for a nap while Ethan was playing in the next bedroom. The phone rang and Ethan decided to pick it up. (!!!) A few minutes later he comes in and whispers, “That was Tom. I told him to take us off his list.”

I’m thinking – Tom, Tom. I don’t know any Toms. Fine.

But then I remember. Glen and I are on a waiting list for a house in a new development in Hercules and the contact’s name is Tom! I call him back and leave a message: Tom, in case you just spoke with my 4 year old, please don’t take us off your list!

We spoke with Tom the next day and luckily he realized that Ethan didn’t have authority to take us off the list. He said they had a fine conversation, although I’m not sure what about. With Ethan you never know!

And the following day we picked out lots of new options for our new house.
